COBBAN, Dr. Sandra Joy (nee Kindzierski) On Friday, January 11,
2013, Dr. Sandra Joy Cobban (nee Kindzierski) of St Albert succumbed to
the cancer she had been fighting for the greater part of a decade. Dr.
Cobban was ever an optimist and a dedicated, focused individual. She
graduated with her PhD in Nursing, becoming the first non-nurse in
Canada to achieve that honour. She was well known for her many years
involvement in the field of Dental Hygiene, as an associate professor at
the University of Alberta School of Dentistry and editor of
professional journals. As a 'big fish' in the profession, she presented
her work in the United States, Australia, Wales, Denmark, The
Netherlands, and Korea. She will be forever missed by her sons, Conor
and Nigel, her parents, Bert and Flo Kindzierski, her brothers and
sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, and many others who had the
privilege of knowing her. Dr. Sandy Cobban was predeceased by her
nephews, Craig and Brandon Kindzierski. A Celebration of Life will be
held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Albert Funeral
Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. In lieu of flowers, please send
