National Children’s Dental Health Month

Join PDA in celebrating National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM) this February! NCDHM is an oral health campaign aimed at educating Pennsylvania youths about the importance of good oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
Whether you're a dentist, a teacher, a parent or a student, PDA has free online resources to assist you with oral health presentations, ideas for the classroom and coloring and activity sheets that can be used as handouts.

    Dental health for children is just as important as it is for adults. Since a child's original teeth are destined to fall out, it can seem unimportant to take proper care of them.

      Proper dental care begins before a baby's first tooth appears. Just because you can't see the teeth doesn't mean they aren't there. Teeth actually begin to form in the second trimester of pregnancy.
